Artistic Language & Themes

Her research interests include Islamic and Eastern art, mythology and demonology, ornament and architecture, the influence of the East on European art, fashion, and jewelry, as well as visual culture and the symbolic language of images. Her publications are distinguished by their strong visual component and analytical depth.

Asya's lectures engage students, art enthusiasts, and professionals interested in culture, architecture, and symbolism, while her books and digital platforms have received wide recognition from readers.

Collaboration with Mataletto

The collaboration with Maraletto continues Asya Gimborg's research practice — translating cultural images and myths into contemporary visual language. Each design explores how an art-historical approach functions within object and surface design: not by literally illustrating the past, but by translating cultural codes into a visual language that speaks to today, told through image, ornament, and color.
